CSIRO Building 2
The project consisted of the refurbishment to an existing three storey structure as well as a partial refurbishment to an adjoining seminar room at the CSIRO Laboratories. The function of the refurbishment was to create a facility for laboratory staff. The works involved demolition and strip out to each level of the building followed by procurement of materials to complete the laboratory workstations and benches. The technical scope of works proved challenging especially in regards to the installation of new electrical and hydraulic services.
INNOVATION:
The service dropper component of the works was manufactured in Queensland and checked by Project Coordination staff for defects prior to dispatch to the ACT. This process ensured that a quality product was delivered to site for installation. Stormwater was contained in specialist facilities and reused to service the toilet areas of the project. Solar energy was used to heat the consumable hot water. Finally the floor coverings and internal doors are made from recycled products.
