Construction on the Karonga School Upgrade Project at North Epping commenced in December 2011. The first stage of the project included the refurbishment of a number of classrooms in the existing Blocks A, E and F. The second stage of the upgrade is a new single-story home base block and associated bus and car park.

Project Coordination worked with the Client to provide a number of innovative solutions resulting in cost savings to the project. The most significant innovation was the development of the building structure that incorporated timber frames and trusses to minimise the amount of structural steel. This resulted in an efficient design that utilised environmentally sustainable timber.
