National Capital Exhibition Centre
The project was divided into three areas. The existing Exhibition Centre Refurbishment included the relocation of the theatrette, replacement of all internal finishes and an upgrade of all building services. The existing veranda was enclosed and incorporated into the main building area to increase exhibition space.
The new building was a steel framed construction with a glazed façade including two new plantrooms, office space, additional toilets and new lakeside entrance.
The external works component included a new arrival forecourt and vehicular approach to the building with exposed aggregate paving. Soft landscaping included irrigation and the relocation of a children’s playground.
INNOVATION:
The mechanical system is a displacement system that draws water from the lake into a heat pump. The sunscreens join the new building into the existing.
