Proximity is a medium density development consisting of one and two bedroom apartments, situated in close vicinity to a wide range of amenities, including the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra Stadium, Belconnen Town Centre, Calvary Hospital, The University of Canberra and Canberra Institute of Technology.  Proximity offers three stories of living and includes a tower, developed as a feature which stands five stories high.   Homes at the height of the tower enjoy scenic views of Bruce and surrounding parkland and open spaces.

Externally the building has a number of imposing triangular shaped roof features that are unique to apartment construction in the ACT. Particular detail to landscaping in the courtyards has been undertaken to create a space where residents can gather on social occasions.

INNOVATION:

Innovative design features heavily throughout the building with many involving environmentally sustainable design principles.  An energy efficient compact fluorescent down light has been used in a good proportion of the apartments. This saves 80% on the energy use as compared to the low voltage halogen down lights.

A storm water re-use system has been designed for use in landscaped areas. A 90,000 litre underground tank captures storm water from the car park.  This storm water is then used to water the landscaped areas on the site.
