The project involved increasing the capacity of the facility with the addition of 16 bedrooms, dining room, utility rooms and external courtyards.

 

Demolition of existing structures was required to make way for the new extension.  Earthworks involved excavation in rock, and installation of screw piles.  Construction was mostly brick veneer, with elements of structural steel due to the large open areas.

 

All site services were upgraded including, fire hydrants, sprinklers, detection, electrical, gas, hot water, security, nurse call.

 

External works included construction of new footpaths, road widening, retaining walls, fencing and installation of a new stormwater system.

 

The Site Manager communicated effectively with the stakeholders to ensure the ongoing operation of the facility.  Any potential disruptions such as noisy work or connection of services were notified well in advance to avoid any potential impact to the staff or residents.
