The Parliament (House) Shop

Client Department of Parliamentary Services
Location Canberra ACT
Value $0.16m
Year 1996
Delivery Project Management

Due to increased patronage the Parliament Shop needed to be increased in size.  The area to expand was chosen from some existing offices on the secure side of the public entry and reception hall.  The existing walls, ceilings and services were removed and replaced with new together with the reconfiguration of the existing public exit corridor. New granite paving was installed where existing carpet was removed. New joinery was provided as well as display racking to suit the clients requirements.

The rail to the main counter was laminated from strips of Leatherwood, a rare Tasmanian timber, made available from stocks purchased by the Government some years earlier.
